Are entrepreneurs specialists in their field

Entrepreneurs as business leaders can often be pigeonholed as creatives and perhaps not necessarily as specialists.

A specialist meanwhile has a role that is second to none in the business. They can often be revered or given a wide berth as their language and vision will differ to others working with them. They can be seen as outliers and even at odds with the main thrust of the business when diversity and/or even new ventures are taken on board and developed as businesses in  their own right. The entrepreneur himself can be the specialist in the industry sector and know the product so well that they struggle to understand the limited knowledge of others around them.

It is at this stage that the awake, aware and clever entrepreneur can engage everyone around them by displaying the emotional intelligence and team playing skills as they encourage those to fulfil their potential.

Creating good ideas and problem solving is the role of the ‘plant’ in the team. The specialist takes on that mantle with ease.

The entrepreneur must know their product, they generally are the specialist and above all enjoy that role.
