The entrepreneur has to be a team player.
The entrepreneur has to be a team player. If not, then his team fragments and the business will never move forward nor develop properly as perhaps it should, let alone reaching its potential.
The entrepreneur will be one of the following people and their gift to the team will be as detailed. it is also important to understand the accepted weaknesses.
Role | Gift to team | Accepted weaknesses |
Co-ordinator | Mature, confident, identifies talent, clarifies goals, delegates effectively | Could be seen as manipulative, offloads own share of the work |
Plant | Creative, imaginative, free thinking. Generates ideas and solves difficult problems | Ignores incidental items, too preoccupied to communicate effectively |
Specialist | Single minded, self-starter and dedicated. Provides knowledge and skills in rare supply | Contributes only on a narrow front. Dwells on technicalities. |
The entrepreneur will rarely be another team player as itemised and discussed in last month’s insight.
Outside resource is always required.
Perhaps, the first person an entrepreneur should seek for advice is a ‘guru’ from within the industry. Someone who has done it before.
That person may well take on the role of Chairman.
